Stage of the Children Theatre
“kulkudiththa Kurangu” (Children play) was written and directed by Mr.T.Gorieeswaran, Lecturer, Department of Fine Arts and staged on 27.03.2019 in the Nallaiya memorial Hall, Eastern University, Vantharumoolai.
‘Makilvudan’ Vaazhthal, Debut of Children Drama
Debut (Arangetram) of two children dramas: ‘periyoor sol ketpoom’( Let us listen to words of great men) of K. Thilakanathan and ‘poonai vaithiyar’(cat doctor) of E. Kamalanathan was staged under the title of ‘Makilvudan’ Vaazhthal’ (living with happiness) on 11.03.2019 in the Nallaiah Memorial Hall. Training on the dramas was given to the students of Fine Arts by Mr. K. Ravichandran, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Fine Arts. The above programme was presided over by Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head, Dept. of Fine Arts. Mr. M .
Learning and Teaching through Performance on Thenmoody Kooththu in Kokkadicholai
Training on ‘nondinadakam’ known as ‘Thenmoody kooththu’ is being given to special degree students of Fine Arts, FAC, EUSL by P.Kathirkamanathan (Annaviyar) under the guidance of Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head , Dept. of Fine Arts in the title of ‘learning and teaching through Performance’ on Thenmoody kooththu (Form of traditional theatre performance of Batticaloa region) activity with social participation.’ Training on this kooththu with social participation was organized in the vaalkattu area of Kokkatichcholai on 1st, 2nd & 3rd of February, 2019.
Patti Pongal, Art Festival and Discussion: 2019.
Art Festival and discussion organizing annually by Dept. of Fine Arts, FAC, EUSL in view of pattipongal was held on 29.01.2019 at 10.00 a.m. under leadership of Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head, Dept. of Fine Arts in front of Dept. of Fine Arts. Dr.K.E. Karunakaran, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the EUSL graced the programme as the chief guest. Mr.M.Ravi, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Culture and Dr.Mrs.Muthlaxmi Vinobaba, Dean Faculty of Science participated as special guests in the event.
Cultural Band performances of Department of Fine Arts, EUSL
Cultural band performance was held for welcoming the guests participated in the felicitation function to honour the retired senior staff of Bank of Ceylon in the premises of East Lagoon Hotel, Batticaloa on 26.01.2019. This programme was coordinated by Mr.S.Chandrakumar.
Performances of Traditional Musical Instruments in Pongal Festival
Pongal festival organized by Divisional Secretariat of Manmunai Pattu was held on 26.01.2019 afternoon with assistance of Manmunai Pattu, Pudukudiyeruppu villagers. As per requested by organizers of the festival, traditional musical instruments were played by staff and students of Dept. of Fine Arts, FAC, EUSL in this event. It is worthy to note that Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head , Dept. of Fine Arts, Mr.T.Gowrieeswaran, Lecturer (Prob), Dept. of Fine Arts and final year students of the Department were participated in this programme.
Performances of Students of Department of Fine Arts for Special Programme for Pongal Day in DAAN Tamil Television
Performances of Dept. of Fine Arts Students were facilitated by Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head/ Department of Fine Arts for telecasting a special programme in view of Pongal festival-2019 in DAAN T.V. For this purpose, performances of the students were recorded in the premises of BT/ Eravur T.M.V on 13.01.2019 and the recorded performances have been telecasted in the DAAN T.V. on Pongal day (15.01.2019).
Cultural Band performances of Department of Fine Arts, EUSL
Cultural band performance was organized to welcome the guests participated in the felicitation programme to honour the staff who served long for the university in the Vantharumoolai campus on 02. 01. 2019 in the afternoon under leadership of Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head, Department of Fine Arts.
Mamangam Traditional Theatre Performance and Exhibition
8th Traditional Theatre Festival and Exhibition was conducted under the direction by Mr.S.Chanrakumar, Head, Department of Fine Arts, EUSL at Mamangam Temple from 5th to 7th August 2018. This is a community based and Student Centred Leaning programme of the Department of Fine Arts. Many Annaviyar (Directory of Koothu) had been invited and participated in the programme in this year. The awarded were given two differently able traditional theatres Artist of Batticaloa.
Campaign Performance for Environmental Friendly Work- Street Play
Nanju Manither (Man of Poison) street play was scripted and programme directed by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. This drama was performed by the Students of Department of Fine Arts at nearby the Kaluthavalai Maha Viddiyalayam for campaign programme of kaluthawalai on 28/06/2018 at 10.30 am.
