Performances of Students of Department of Fine Arts for Special Programme for Pongal Day in DAAN Tamil Television

Performances of Dept. of Fine Arts Students were facilitated by Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head/ Department of Fine Arts for telecasting a special programme in view of Pongal festival-2019 in DAAN T.V. For this purpose, performances of the students were recorded in the premises of BT/ Eravur T.M.V on 13.01.2019 and the recorded performances have been telecasted in the DAAN T.V. on Pongal day (15.01.2019).

The performances included pulikooththu, vasanthan kooththu and arasar varavaatam (dance of arrival of king). The final year students who performed pulikooththu were trained by annaviyars (directors) K.Aandiyappan and E. Rasathurai from Palacholai, Vantharumoolai. The second year special degree students who performed vasanthan kooththu have been trained by artiste Thenooran of Thettativu. Thenmoodi arasar varavaatam was performed by Mr. S.Chandrakumar and this performance was directed by Mr. P. Kathirkamanathan. Mr.K. Puvikumar has participated as audience ( Sabaiyoor) for this performance. Mr.S.Chandrakumar directed to create this programme.
