Language on the poetic performance in the world Mother's Language Day

Language on the poetic performance in the world Mother’s language day, was held on 21. 02. 2020 at 09. 00 am at the Department of Fine Arts, Eastern University, Sri Lanka under the chairmanship of Mr. S.Chandrakumar, Head- department of Fine Arts on the theme “Language in Poetry”. This event focused on the syllabus and the accompanying studies.   

Local Cultural Festival associated with Pattippongal of Department of Fine Arts, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. 

Pattippongal festival has been designed and celebrated as a cultural and scientific festival by the Department of Fine Arts of the Eastern University, Sri Lanka who have been involved in participatory research performance for the last ten years. 

In that respect, a local cultural festival related to Pattippongal, a feature of tradional cultural art, was held on Monday 20. 01. 2020 at 10.00 am in the premises of the department of fine arts, Eastern University under the supervision of Mr. S.Chandrakumar, Head of the department of Fine arts.  

Thaippongal Celebration of Community Television / ‘Samugam’ Television

Uzhavar Thirunaal (Farmer’s Special Day) was celebrated on Wednesday 15. 01. 2020 by the Community Television at the premises of Vantharumoolai Neermugap Pillaiyaar temple in Batticaloa based on the theme “Let’s unite in Tamil”.  Mr. S.Chandrakumar, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Eastern University, Sri Lanka coordinated this traditional art events and instructed the students of the department of fine arts to enrich this festival. It is notable that these traditional performing arts were performed by the lecturers and the students of the department of fine arts.  

Debut of the Rama Nadam Vadamoodi kooththu

Rama Nadam Vadamoodi kooththu (A Traditional Performance of The Eastern Region) was coordinated by Bottom Theatre Activities Organisation and Staged at the night of 21.09.2019 at the premise of Narasinga Vairavar Tampil of Ampilanthurai. Department of Fine Arts supported to this programme. This Kooththu was organised and Coordinated by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head/Fine Arts, Eastern University under his Theory of Bottom to Bottom. Villages and Head of the Department Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Lecturer T.Gowrieeswaran and V.Sasikaran participated as actors in this Kooththu.

13th SLUG – Sri Lanka University Games - 2019

13th SLUG – Sri Lanka University Games was conducted by University of Ruhuna on 26.08.2019 -07.09.2020 at Matara University. Flag of 14th SLUG – Sri Lanka University Games was officially handover on 07.09.2019 to Prof F.C.Ragel, Vice – Chancellor, Eastern University. Then, Department of Fine Arts performed Tamil Cultural Programme base on traditional theatre of Eastern regional dance and Music on 07.09.2019. This Event was coordinated and trained with composing of traditional dance by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head/Fine Arts, and Eastern University.

Art Council of Sri Lanka’s “Sarasavi Prathibha” – 2018/2019

Inter universities cultural creation competition was conducted by Art Council of Sri Lanka named “Sarasavi Prathibha” 2018/2019. Mr.S.Chandrakumar Head of Fine Arts, Eastern University appointed as a Chief Coordinator of Programme of Sarasavi Prathiba for Eastern University’s Students, Vantharumoolai. First round of competition was organized by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Chief Coordinator in Department of Fine Arts, Eastern University.

Nondi nadakam Thenmodikoothu

Nondi nadakam Thenmodi kooththu (A Traditional Performance of The Eastern Region) was produced by Department of Fine Arts and Staged at the night of 24.07.2019 at Mamankam Temple, Batticaloa.  This Kooththu was facilitated and Coordinated by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head/Fine Arts, Eastern University under his Learning by Performance Concept. Department of Fine Arts Students and Head of the Department Mr.S.Chandrakumar participated as actors in this Kooththu. Mr.S.Chandrakumar performed as a character of Nondi (Main Character of this Kooththu) in this Kooththu.

World Drama Day-2019

World Drama was held under the leadership of Mr. S. Chandrakumar, Head , Dept. of Fine Arts at the Nallaiah Memorial Hall in the Eastern University, Sri Lanka, Vantharumoolai Campus on 27th March , 2019 from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. more or less after 14 years period. Cultural band performance was organized for welcoming the guests participated in the inauguration ceremony of the World Drama Day programme by the Department of Fine Arts.

Stage of the Apasuram Drama

“Apasuram” (Non Realistic Play: Abstract Play) was directed by Mr.S.Chandrakumar, Head/ Department of fine Arts, Eastern University and staged on 27.03.2019 in the Nallaiya memorial Hall, Eastern University, Vantharumoolai. This Drama was written by Mr.N.Sundaralingam
