Awards
Awards/Fellowship/ Scholarships:
- State Literary Award-2022: One of the books on ‘Climatic Water Balance in the Eastern Region of Sri Lanka’ (Tamil), was selected for the State Literary award. The award ceremony was held 28th October 2022 at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, Colombo
- The Eastern University was awarded in recognition of the Meritorious Service rendered to the University System over Thirty Years (1991-2021), and an awarding ceremony was held on 3rd October 2022.
- The UGIT’s Excellency Award-2018. This prestigious international award was adjudged by the Union of Geographic Information Technologist (UGIT: www. ugit.net), Department of Geography and Geo-informatics, Bangalore University, India, December 2018. The award was conferred with the felicitation in the inaugural session of UGIT’s 7th International Conference on Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Sustainable Development through Geospatial Technologies was held at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka on 24 November 2018.
- Meritorious Award-2017: The Eastern University, Sri Lanka awarded in recognition of dedicated and Meritorious Service rendered to the University over a Period of Twenty Five Years (1991-2016), the awarding Ceremony was held on 02.01.2017, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
- The Best Technical Paper Award was adjudged at the 4th International Conference on Geo-Information Technology for Natural Disaster Management (GIT 4NDM) and 1st International Conference on Infrastructure Management held on 7th -8th November 2012 at Colombo, Sri Lanka. The International Conference was organized by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), National University of Science & Technology, Pakistan & Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka. Papers were presented by scholars from various countries in this conference.
- Fellowship awarded by the Centre for Space Science Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP-Affiliated to the United Nations), IIRS, Dehradun, from October 2006 to June 2007 to follow PG. Diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & Remote Sensing (RS).
- ‘Sivagamy Murugesar’ Memorial Scholarship award was adjudged by the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka for the Best Performance in Geography in the Special degree examination in Arts.
- Fellowship awarded by the Centre for Space Science Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (Affiliated to the United Nations), IIRS, Dehradun, from April 18 –May 17, 2016, to follow short course on ‘Weather Forecasting using Numerical Weather Prediction Models’.
